October 19 + 26 | Sew Simple – 2 Week Beginner Machine Sewing

Are you intimidated by your sewing machine? You won’t be anymore! This beginner-friendly class equips you with the skills and confidence to sew like a pro with your own sewing machine (please bring your own). Week one you will learn about your machine and master the basics of setting yourself up to make a project and troubleshooting when issues may arise with your machine. You will create simple projects in week one that you will build from during week 2.

2 Week Circle Skirt

Learn to draft and sew a summer circle skirt to your measurements! – You are guaranteed it will fit!

In this class you will draft and sew a summer circle skirt to your measurements!You will learn 

  • How to take your measurements for the skirt

  • How to draft a half-circle skirt (+ a ¼ circle and a full circle skirt) and the waistband

  • Finishing seam allowances

  • Sewing a zipper in a centered or lapped application

  • Hemming with bias tape or with machine-basting for an even hem.

  • Sewing buttonholes or hook-and-eye to the waistband.

Prerequisites: you should be familiar with threading and using your sewing machine (bring your own machine). Additionally, you should have some experience sewing minor projects like zippered pouches, pillows, small bags, etc.

The Sewing Classes in MariaDenmark Studio take place in Hunterdon County in High Bridge, New Jersey.

That’s 1 hour from New York City and 1 hour 15 minutes from Philadelphia by car (1 hour, 45 minutes by train from NYC).
